November 2010

Hey!

We are now taking pre-orders for the limited edition releases from Fabio Orsi and Area C. 300 copies only set for release in January 2011.

Circa is a new limited edition CD series from Preservation. 300 copies only will be available of each release in the series and each will feature a design by Mark Gowing. Each design will be realised using a specially created abstract alphabet of shapes, determined by artist, title and catalogue number for something both fixed and random. We're excited and apart from these first two great releases, there's some upcoming ones that'll please the pants off you.

August 2010

Hello again - we're here to tell you that we've just released the most exquisite debut from Sydney's Sophie Hutchings, Becalmed. Sophie came into the Preservation stable courtesy of one Tony Dupe - aka Saddleback - who recorded many of the tracks and gushed to us in the process. The gushiness was mutual and here we are with Becalmed, now complete with a stunning cover design from Mark Gowing.

For Sydneysiders, Sophie will launch Becalmed at Raval on Thursday, October 28. Also peforming is the wonderful Seaworthy, also launching their new collaboration with Matt Rosner, Two Lakes, and another upcoming Preservation artist in Sydney's Tired Hands. It's a formidable line-up - to pick up tickets, go to raval.com.au. Sophie will be backed by strings and percussion on the night to give the full complement of sounds on the album along side her shimmering piano style.

May 2010

We're thrilled about the debut full-length from Finland's Ous Mal. This album was a real pleasure to be involved with and once you hear the immense melodic gift and soundcraft at hand on Nuojuva Halava, you'll know why.

Aaron Martin has started a blog for all his musings and happenings that you can check out here He has also made some nifty t-shirts of a lovely cream shade for sale you'll be able to have a look at and buy there as well. Still with Aaron, his album Worried About The Fire came out on Experimedia in the US recently and is soon to be pressed on vinyl. Look out for a collaboration with Dawn Smithson on 7" too.

March 2010

The first release for 2010 is with us! it comes from San Francisco's Ben Swire - From Here To There. We were thrilled last year by a track Ben sent - the opening one, 'Propel', on his album - that kept spinning in our head and we wanted more. The rest was just as grand - intelligent and tuneful electronica with a huge sense of space.

You'll notice Ben's photos grace the cover and inside of his album. While we have used peoples' photos before, you'll also notice that this release is on a more standard-style package. It's at this time we would like to thank Preservation's co-founder Mark Gowing for all the incredible work he has put into the design for Preservation releases and making it such a special thing. As we move on to a different phase for Preservation, we will be on the lookout for designers from all over the world to contribute to releases.

The next release to follow is from Finnish artist Ous Mal, with design from UK artist Jenkins. It will be released in May - stay tuned!
